This agreement provides the following benefits for library users and affiliated authors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Unlimited OA publishing: any article published in Society journals where the corresponding author is from a Publish and Read institution will be OA by default. This is applicable to all of the society&#8217;s journals, including hybrid titles&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microbiologyresearch.org\/content\/journal\/micro\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Microbiology<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microbiologyresearch.org\/content\/journal\/jgv\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Journal of General Virology<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microbiologyresearch.org\/content\/journal\/jmm\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Journal of Medical Microbiology<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microbiologyresearch.org\/content\/journal\/ijsem\" target=\"_blank\"><em>International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology<\/em><\/a>, and fully OA titles&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microbiologyresearch.org\/content\/journal\/acmi\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Access Microbiology<\/em><\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.microbiologyresearch.org\/content\/journal\/mgen\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Microbial Genomics<\/em><\/a>.<\/li><li>Unlimited usage: any user associated with a Publish and Read institution can<br>access the entire archive of Society content, back to 1947, for reading and for text<br>and data mining.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Alberta library joins a group of <a href=\"https:\/\/microbiologysociety.org\/news\/press-releases\/transformative-agreement-signed-between-the-microbiology-society-and-four-canadian-consortia.html\">15 other institutions<\/a> from four Canadian consortia in this 3-year agreement, which begins in 2022.
