{"id":3213,"date":"2025-10-14T14:53:26","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T14:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.library.ualberta.ca\/collections-information\/?p=3213"},"modified":"2025-10-17T14:10:33","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T14:10:33","slug":"access-changes-university-of-toronto-press-journals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.library.ualberta.ca\/collections-information\/2025\/10\/14\/access-changes-university-of-toronto-press-journals\/","title":{"rendered":"Access changes: University of Toronto Press journals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University of Toronto Press (UTP) recently made an agreement with EBSCO to distribute most of the Press&#8217;s journals <strong>exclusively via EBSCO databases<\/strong>, effective January 1, 2026. This affects the journals for which we currently have UTP-direct subscriptions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main impact of this change for UAL is that <strong>we will no longer collect new issues of two (2) UTP journals.<\/strong> This is because the only way to do so is to pay for expensive EBSCO database upgrades, which is not justifiable given current budget constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the context of our UAL collection, there are seven (7) journals affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Journals where current access to new issues will continue (with the relevant EBSCO database indicated):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Calico<\/em> (Education Research Complete)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Canadian Journal of Communication<\/em> (Communication &amp; Mass Media Complete)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality <\/em>(CINAHL Plus with Full Text)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>East Asian Pragmatics<\/em> (Communications &amp; Mass Media Complete)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Physiotherapy Canada <\/em>(CINAHL Plus with Full Text)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Journals whose new contents, January 1 onward, we will no longer have access to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Journal of Veterinary Medical Education<\/em> (available through CAB Abstracts with Full Text; we have CAB Abstracts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Sociolinguistic Studies<\/em> (available through MLA with Full Text; we have MLA International Bibliography)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Articles published January 1 onward in these two journals will need to be requested via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.library.ualberta.ca\/services\/interlibrary-loan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ILL<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toronto Press (UTP) recently made an agreement with EBSCO to distribute most of the Press&#8217;s journals exclusively via EBSCO databases, effective January 1, 2026.
