We have some great news to share!<\/p>\n

Norma Dunning has won\u00a0the prestigious Danuta Gleed Literary Award, given to the writer of the best first short story collection in Canada. The stories in\u00a0Annie Muktuk and Other Stories<\/em><\/a>\u00a0portray the unvarnished realities of northern life via strong and gritty characters.<\/p>\n

Jury members praised Dunning for crafting “spellbinding narratives” centring on Inuit characters that “deliver raw emotion and an acute sense of humanity.”<\/p>\n

Norma has also won two other awards this spring for Annie Muktuk and Other Stories<\/em>:<\/p>\n

One of her stories from\u00a0the collection, “Elipsee”, won the Writers’ Guild of Alberta’s <\/span>Howard O\u2019Hagan Award for Short Story<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The full collection also took a Bronze in the North American independent publishing contest, INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards<\/a>, in the Short Stories category. <\/span><\/p>\n

Finally,\u00a0<\/span>Annie Muktuk and Other Stories<\/em> has been shortlisted for the <\/span>Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
