Edmonton, AB \u2013 <\/strong>University\nof Alberta Press is pleased to announce that Michelle Lobkowicz will join us as\nour new Acquisitions Editor (Humanities and Literature) as of January 13, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMichelle has dedicated more than 15 years\nto scholarly publishing,\u201d notes Director and Publisher Douglas Hildebrand. \u201cShe\nbegan her publishing career with Broadview Press before moving to University of\nToronto Press, where her most recent position was Sales Manager of their Book\nPublishing Division. She is a leader in our industry and we’re extremely lucky\nto have her join us at UAlberta Press.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lobkowicz says, \u201cThroughout all of my\nroles, I have worked with authors and prospective authors, representing their\nwork to colleagues and to the market. I am excited at the prospect of building\non the Press\u2019s already impressive lists in literature, poetry, natural history,\nand Indigenous Studies. Acquiring in the humanities is particularly exciting\nbecause the field encourages us to engage in active reflection and grapple with\ncomplex moral issues. Books are a big part of my home life as well, and when I\nread for pleasure, I most often choose Canadian fiction and short stories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lobkowicz was born and raised in Edmonton.\nShe received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Alberta and\nher Master of Arts in English from the University of Guelph. She will be\nreturning to Edmonton from Guelph, Ontario. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
