The Book Publishers Association of Alberta<\/a> (BPAA) has announced the shortlist for the 2021 Alberta Book Publishing Awards, representing the finest of Alberta book publishing as determined by leading professionals in the book industry from across Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe juries had their work cut out for them, as they deliberated on 109 titles submitted into 13 award categories,\u201d said Kieran Leblanc, Executive Director of the BPAA. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

University of Alberta Press and its authors were delighted to see three books from its publishing program on the shortlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scholarly & Academic Book of the Year: <\/strong>Our Whole Gwich\u2019in Way of Life Has Changed \/ Gwich\u2019in K\u2019yuu Gwiidand\u00e0i\u2019 Tthak Ejuk G\u00f2onlih: Stories from the People of the Land<\/a><\/em> by Leslie McCartney and Gwich\u2019in Tribal Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trade Non-Fiction Book of the Year:<\/strong> An Autobiography of the Autobiography of Reading<\/a> by Dionne Brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Book Design:<\/strong> All the Feels \/ Tous les sens: Affect and Writing in Canada \/ Affect et \u00e9criture au Canada<\/a><\/em> edited by Marie Carri\u00e8re, Ursula Mathis-Moser, and Kit Dobson and designed by our wonderful colleague, Alan Brownoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners of the 2021 Alberta Book Publishing Awards will be announced in a virtual presentation, premiering on the BPAA YouTube channel<\/a> on September 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
