The University of Alberta Libraries continues to demonstrate its commitment to the success of open access by being the first institution to provide funding support for DOAJ and SHERPA/RoMEO as part of the SCOSS Initiative. The Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services aims to secure sustainability for open access and open source infrastructures. As a pilot, it is coordinating a funding program in support of DOAJ, a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals, and SHERPA/RoMEO, an online resource that aggregates and analyses publisher open access policies from around the world and provides summaries of self-archiving permissions and conditions of rights given to authors on a journal-by-journal basis.
