Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is a core tool for evaluating citation trends around individual journals, and for seeing how journals can be compared and ranked within subject areas, based on different bibliometric measures. JCR’s 2019 update has just been announced. Features of JCR 2019 include:
- 11,877 journals are included, from over 80 countries, listed in 236 disciplines. Of the journals, 283 were listed for the first time.
- Seventeen (17) journals were suppressed from JCR this year (this is 0.14% of the journals listed). These journals were excluded for anomalous citation behaviour, including evidence of excessive journal self-citation and citation stacking.
- Three (3) new disciplinary categories were introduced: Quantum Science & Technology (SCIE), Development Studies (SSCI) and Regional & Urban Planning (SSCI).
