Oxford University Press’s Very Short Introductions (VSIs) are pocket-sized introductions written at an approachable, but scholarly, level, by recognised experts. We have some, but not all, VSIs in print in our collection, so you can check out titles such as Drugs: A Very Short Introduction,Dinosaurs: A Very Short Introduction, or, hey, why not,Teeth: A Very Short Introduction. We also have a few VSIs as ebooks via aggregator platforms (ProQuest or EBSCO).
For the next month, we are trialling Oxford UP’s own platform for the complete collection of all VSIs. Please find it here, and send us your thoughts on adding it to the collection: https://www.veryshortintroductions.com/
Ordinarily there is no off-campus access to resources being trialled, but in this case, Oxford has offered us a workaround. For details, please see the trials spreadsheet by clicking “Current Product Trials” on the Collections Info site.
Also, as a context note, you may observe that we don’t always promote trials equally widely. This is because some trials are for extremely specialised resources. However, you can visit the Current Product Trials spreadsheet at any time to see what’s being trialled.
Please send any input (yea or nay) about the VSIs complete collection to csu@ualberta.ca. Thanks!
