We recently reviewed the sources we license for Book Reviews. There was a lot of duplication of content and a high cost per use, so we decided to cancel the following databases when they come up for renewal:
- Book Index with Reviews (includes BIR Entertainment)
- Choice Reviews Online
- Fiction Core Collection
- Global Books in Print
- Middle and Junior High Core Collection
- Nonfiction Core Collection
- Senior High Core Collection
We will be keeping the following book reviewing sources based on high usage, good quality of reviewing sources, and numbers of books and book reviews included:
- Book Review Digest Plus
- Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database
We also license other databases that include book reviews but are not exclusively book review resources, so they were not part of this assessment.
