Dear Colleagues,
The following databases will not be renewed once the current subscription period has elapsed:
- ComDisDome (Communications disorders database from ProQuest); expires on December 31st.
- ERIC on the OVID Platform; expires on March 31st, 2021
- Note: We are retaining ERIC on the EBSCO platform, so this only is eliminating duplicated access.
- Health Policy Reference Center; expires on December 31st.
- Medical Letter on Drugs & Therapeutics; expires on December 31st.
- Medline on the EBSCO Platform; expires on December 31st.
- Note: We are retaining access to Medline on both the OVID platform and the Web of Science platform, so this is only eliminating duplicated access.
- Nursing Reference Center Plus, expires on March 31st, 2021.
- Online Metabolic and Molecular Bases of Inherited Disease, expires on March 31st, 2021
- OrthoEvidence, expires on March 31st, 2021
- Sports Medicine & Education Index, expires on December 31st.
Please make note of these changes, and update any affected links. These cancellations were decided based on prevalence of duplicated or overlapping content with other databases, or due to a very high cost-per-use for the material, and will result in a reduction of subscription spending by approximately CAD$ 91,000.
The most significant reduction noted here is from Nursing Reference Center Plus, on which we spent CAD$ 68,425.58 last year, resulting in a cost-per-use of CAD$ 37.72.
Thanks to all the librarians, particularly those working in Health Sciences, that provided the necessary feedback to inform these difficult decisions.
