Dissertations Database Change

For many years the Library has subscribed to ProQuest’s Dissertations & Theses Global database, although UofA stopped contributing content several years ago. With the recent merger of ProQuest and Clarivate, the decision was made to migrate this content from the ProQuest platform to the Web of Science platform:

“In a recent survey of Web of Science customers , the majority of respondents agreed that dissertations and theses are an essential part of building a more comprehensive understanding of the research landscape. In response, Clarivate launched ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index on Web of Science.

This new citation index brings together the premium, curated metadata from ProQuest Dissertations & Theses (PQDT) Global with the robust discovery network and analytics capabilities of Web of Science. This powerful combination enables users to conduct more comprehensive literature reviews via access to abstracts of early career research alongside journal articles, conference papers,  preprints and other scholarly sources in a single platform environment.”

The asset on the A-Z list has been updated to ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Citation Index, and it now links to the Web of Science platform.

Please note that Dissertations & Theses @ University of Alberta, a local subset of the original PQDT Global, is still hosted on the ProQuest platform.
