We have now purchased the full archive of Cambridge Companions, totalling 620 ebooks. The Companions are introductions — lively and accessible, yet authoritative — to various humanities topics such as writers, artists, forms, periods, and genres. Thanks to the quick work of the monographs cataloguing team, these ebooks are all visible in the catalogue.
Background
As we announced in our November 2020 newsletter, the CSU team recently ended our subscription to the Cambridge Companions, which was costing nearly $8,000/year without giving us perpetual access to these books. At that time, we purchased the most heavily-used Companions, 123 in total. However, with the end of the fiscal year approaching, we have found that we are also able to purchase the other 497 Companions to complete the archive.
We will continue to purchase new Companions for the library collection in future.
