A bachelor herd of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep heading back to higher elevations after an afternoon spent visiting a mineral lick in Banff National Park. We located this herd and using GPS positions from a radio collared ram (second from right). Once we located this herd, we collected faecal samples as part of a study sampling faecal samples from Banff and Jasper National Parks. We extracted DNA from faecal samples from the bighorn sheep within the two National Parks with an outlook to examining the movement patterns of male bighorn sheep during the rut in and around these two National Parks.
