The image portrays our journey through understanding some factors that influence the career journey of people experiencing mental health challenges. This image features a participant in my research (with her written permission), as she created this visual representation of the steps in our research, as she and other individuals took the lead in understanding ways to empower themselves and others facing mental illness to stay on their job longer and advance in their career journey. As a result of our research we are developing resources that can help increase awareness about the stigma of mental illness and help create emotionally safe, supportive work environments, that will enable all employees to thrive and advance in their career journey.
