Our lab focuses on improving sensorimotor control and incorporating advanced prosthetic and robotic technologies for both upper and lower limbs. For prosthetic hand users, every day presents a series of obstacles to overcome that might happen due to due to limited prosthetic functionality, prosthetic comfort and fit. Simple tasks that others take for granted—such as tying shoelaces, grasping objects, or even holding a loved one’s hand—can be daunting and frustrating. We strive to create prosthetic devices that not only restore lost functionality but also instill a sense of confidence, independence, and dignity in prosthetic hand users. I shared this image to comfort individuals facing limb loss, letting them know they’re not alone in their journey. As they hold their prosthetic hand in the researcher’s grasp, they feel validated and supported. Their concerns matter, and their dreams are respected. Also, they find encouragement within a community dedicated to turning dreams into achievements.
