This image taken in July 2022, captures a flowering canola field trial at St. Albert Research Station, a part of my ongoing research in finding the photosynthetic efficiency of different canola germplasms. It represents a booming canola population with over 50% flowering due to its successful photosynthetic activity. A lot of pollinator activity was observed in this stage due to the beautiful yellow small flowers. Canola is very important to Canada as it is one of the most widely grown crops in the country. Photosynthesis is also the most important function of nature, due to which all animals thrive on the planet. The main objective of my research is to find the most photosynthetically efficient germplasm which would give higher yields, thus contributing to the Canadian economy and better supporting the growing global population.
