You may have heard that University of Alberta Press is hiring an Acquisitions Editor to work in our Edmonton office. We want every potential candidate to hear of the position and encourage our blog readers to help us spread the word!
Recently we hired Mat Buntin to acquire in the social sciences. The new acquisitions editor will be working closely with Mat and our Director and Publisher, Douglas Hildebrand.
The Acquisitions Editor is responsible for soliciting, developing, and acquiring manuscripts for University of Alberta Press, both scholarly (primarily humanities disciplines: history, literary and cultural studies, cinema and media) and literary (poetry, short fiction, literary nonfiction). The role of the Acquisitions Editor is to focus on list building and is thus critical to the Press’ publishing program.
