University of Alberta Press is accepting poetry manuscripts between September 1 and October 31 this year. At the end of the submission period, the Press will select up to three manuscripts for publication in 2021 in the Robert Kroetsch Series of Canadian creative writing.

Why do we have a reading season? Back in 2014, we started to streamline the submission process due to the increasing number of poetry submissions we receive. We now include an external jury of experts to help us select work that represents the best in Canadian poetry and ensure a more impartial process. (Please note that the competition is open to Canadians citizens or landed immigrants.)
